Kalils most recent position was as an assistant writer and reporter for the Rex Ryan biography, Play Like You Mean It: Passion, Laughs and Leadership in the World’s Most Beautiful Game. The book focuses on the New York Jets Head Coach’s professional career in the NFL, as well as his unique approach to leadership and his outlook on the culture of the game. Hired by New York Times Best Selling author Don Yaeger, Kalil conducted numerous interviews with Ryan, was responsible for framing and editing each chapter’s final draft and most notably writing two of the book’s twenty-two chapters. Play Like You Mean It hit shelves on May 2, and less than two weeks later the book hit the 2011 New York Times Best Sellers List.
